The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is partnering with The Educational Theatre Foundation to bring an exciting nationally recognized program, JumpStart Theatre, to theatre arts programs in Cincinnati-area middle schools beginning in the 2019 / 2020 school year.
Before this announcement, middle schools in the Cincinnati did not have such a program. Through this program, TCT can help expand the arts in more schools and provide art education to more children.
TCT will oversee the day-to-day operations of the JumpStart Theatre initiative. Participating schools are chosen through an application process. With this, they will receive materials, a budget and training. This support will continue for three years until the program is established and self-sustained. For teachers who are not trained in theatre, resources will be provided for them as well to help produce a successful first, school musical.
JumpStart Theatre is funded entirely by gifts and grants. The generous gift from Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment and gifts from The Shubert Foundation and more helped make this possible. What better program than TCT to carry on JumpStart Theatre’s mission.
