I remember the my first pregnancy. We shared the news with all our friends. It was also my first miscarriage. I had to break the news to all our friends during a party when they saw me with a drink in my hand. I had to let them know all at once that we lost our first baby, but that I was also OK. But was I really?

Looking back, I realize that maybe I wasn’t. When my younger sister experienced a miscarriage, I understood what she was going through. However, I never truly understood how a miscarriage could affect women differently. My younger sister shares and celebrates the expected arrival date of her miscarried baby every year. It’s a moment she relives with happiness, not sadness. I praise her for it. I, for one, never thought about it like that. But, does that make me a bad mom?

NO.

But, maybe if I permitted myself to grieve, things would have gone differently.

Miscarriage happens more often than you think. Some women truly need more support (some may not even know it yet). That’s why I was excited to learn about Stay Strong Mom gift box subscription.
