Head down to the river and enjoy Nights of Lights at Coney Island. Coney Island is often associated with Riverbend but it also hosts a drive-through light display. This two-mile stretch of lights will be sure to entertain you and the whole family! Be sure to come early as lines can be long but that is part of the fun as you can spend quality time with friends and family in the car. It may even be a good idea to bring some snacks. Nonetheless, the wait is well worth it as this light display is fun and engaging.
Once you pay, you will see signs to tune your radio to 97.5 and you instantly see that the light display is synchronized to the music. Many familiar songs are played throughout. For example, songs from the Nutcracker, Joy to the World, and songs from National Lampoons Christmas are part of the show. The upbeat music energizes the whole event.
Some of the fun parts of the light display include a singing snowman, snowflakes, candy canes, and a tunnel with a swirling effect. The singing snowman was so fun to watch and it looked like it was lip syncing the featured song. The Nativity scene was also a good reminder to slow down at Christmas and Santa was even there waving from his RV window. My 2-year-old was ecstatic and kept saying “Cool lights!”
This was a great event and I am so glad my family attended. It was fun and on the way home we all named our favorite part of the light display. My husband liked the soldiers, and my daughter liked the candy canes, and mine was the singing snowman. My son just said “Cool lights!” This is definitely something your family and you will want to check out. Nights of Lights runs through January 1, 2018, and costs $6 per person. Kids 3 years and younger are free. The website has more information: http://coneyislandpark.com/event/christmas-light-show/.
