Need an idea for the kids over Winter Break?  Cincinnati Museum Center will host a variety of day camps for the kiddos — Mom reporter Amanda Ciani got a sneak peek of what families can expect when her Kindergartner attend a recent day camp over Thanksgiving break.

Upon asking my Kindergartener if he had a good day at Jedi Jr. Camp at Cincinnati Museum Center, he responded “Great! When is my next day of camp?!” His enthusiasm allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief. I was admittedly a little nervous sending him to an all-day camp. Thus far in his six years of life he has only attended half-day school, classes, and camps. For whatever reason,  I found myself worried it would be too much for him. I also worried if he would eat all of his lunch, since he hasn’t had much practice at lunch without someone from his family there to help him. If you couldn’t tell yet, I am a worrier. But, guess what? He ate every bite of his lunch, and when we got home he said “Hey, I read the note you left me in my lunch box!” So he ate his food, and read my note. Aww! After he told me he had a GREAT day about a thousand times, I felt a little silly that I had been a teensy bit nervous sending him to an all-day camp. What can I say, he is my oldest child … but he is still my baby!

If you are considering sending your youngster to a day of camp at the museum, you should expect them to come home and ask to go to another day of camp … because they WILL have an amazing time. And you may very well choose to send them to multiple days of camps, because your child will have so much fun, AND they will be learning while they are at it! My son came home and excitedly told me about the science experiments he did at camp. He also informed me about evvvvverything he learned about gravity, and the planets. He gave the camp ten thumbs up, and has already asked to go back to camp for winter break. Now comes a tricky endeavor — picking which themed day he wants to attend!
