Looking for a fun outing that is great for all ages and all weather? Check out Splash Cincinnati! My 3-year-old daughter ALWAYS wants to keep up with her big brother, but with a three year age difference that can often be tough. I frequently find myself trying to find alternatives for her while my husband and son go on all of the “thrill seeking” adventures that they can find. Splash Cincinnati has big slides for the big kids and a special area for kids 48” and shorter that provides them with the thrills they are looking for! They even have an arcade!
Little ones can enjoy the warm zero-depth entry pool that has a maximum depth of two feet in the kids’ play area. The pool has fountains that my daughter/ninja kicked and ran her hand through. There was also a fountain that she called the “mushroom umbrella” that we ran under and watched the water fall around us. My daughter would say that the BEST part of this pool is the big ship at the back that has THREE water slides. She watched her brother race down them numerous times. Then I asked her if she wanted to slide too. Her eyes widened, she was excited to find out that she was able to go down them too. She tested out the blue slide while racing her brother and then tried the fast red slide. Her “thrill seeking” needs were met with the fast slide. She easily went down it over 50 times while we were there.
When my arms tired of catching her on the red slide, I guided her to Adventure Grove. We hopped on a tube and went around and around and around the river while the boys went on the BIG (Waterfall Racers, Raging Water Cavern, and White Water Falls) water slides. He thought it was pretty cool to start in the building, slide outside of the building, and end up in the pool back in the building. While on the lazy river we watched the boys climb the steps to the slide and then we would point out all of the fun details in Splash Cincinnati. My daughter loved finding “Nemo” and “Dory” on the wall and I liked finding all of the different birds.
My kids enjoyed exploring Splash Island which is an interactive play structure. There is a giant bucket that dumps water. My son thought it was great, my daughter thought it was a little scary. Luckily, there is a bell on it and the faster the bell sounds the closer it is to dumping, so we could clear the area before it dumped. I got sprayed by water numerous times by many kids. They were hiding out and when they saw me they would turn a wheel and increase the water pressure in their area sending water shooting out at me. I also got drenched a few times, by the cones that would tip when full. Kids and adults were all giggles in this area.
Splash Cincinnati also has a pool with basketball hoops and a net that you can attempt to cross Ninja Warrior style! There is also an area for adults 18 and up which we did not explore as we had our littles with us. You can also use the life jackets and towels that are available to borrow there. Hungry and thirsty? No biggie, head over to the café and bar for a bite to eat or a tasty drink.
