This “Grilled Cheese” Cake will certainly fool your friends and family when they bite into it, and find a sweet treat instead of a savory sandwich.
Ingredients:
- Homemade or store bought pound cake
- Three tablespoons butter
- One can of vanilla or cream cheese store bought icing
- Yellow and red food coloring
Directions:
Slice of thin ends from the pound cake and discard. Slice the cake into six good-sized slices.
Heat one tablespoon of butter on a frying pan or griddle and keep at medium/low heat. Once the butter has melted, place two slices of cake on the butter. Watch the slices carefully to make sure they are browning, but don’t get burned. Once the slices are done, remove from pan and set aside. Repeat process twice more with remaining slices of cake. Do not cook cake on both sides, just one side each.
For the ‘cheese’: Take the vanilla icing and mix in four to five drops yellow food coloring and mix together, then add in red coloring until you achieve the color of cheese.
Put the icing in microwave-safe mug and heat for ten seconds. Take from oven and stir, then poor on one half of the bread. Smooth with knife or back of spoon, letting some drip down the side to look like gooey cheese. Place the other cake slice on top, browned side showing.
Repeat with remaining cake. Slice, and serve.
