It’s a Cincinnati tradition, and it kicks off this month! Each year, as many as 200,000 little yellow rubber ducks take a swim along the Ohio River in the Rubber Duck Regatta that supports the Freestore Foodbank. Last year, the Regatted netted over $1 million, which meant three million meals for hungry children in the region. Ducks go on sale beginning July 17 – the cost is $5 per duck, or $25 for six. The 21st annul Rubber Duck Regatta presented by Dawn takes place on Sunday, September 6, during the P&G Riverfest. The first prize winner receives a 2016 Honda HR-V and maybe even $1 million if their duck is also the KEMBA Million Dollar Duck! Second prize winner will receive $100 from Kroger every week for a year, and five additional winners will each receive $500 cash from KEMBA Credit Union. Head to your neighborhood Kroger store to purchase your ducks, or get them online at rubberduckregatta.org.
