1. Make Time.

Commit to spending meaningful time together on a regular basis. Put it on the calendar to make it official. Ideas: cook a meal together, make a craft, enjoy movie night with lots of snacks, get competitive with game night.

2. Unplug.

Find what works for your family. It is liberating to not feel glued to a screen for any amount of time. Ideas: limit tech time to ‘X’ hours each day or have completely a tech-free day each week. Start small, and go tech-free more and more.

3. Read.

Expand your minds, together. How many books can your family read together this year? Ideas: For littles, aim to read equal parts favorite books and new books during story time. For readers, let a different family member pick a book each month and practice reading aloud each night.

4. Get moving.

Break a sweat and have some fun. Go on a hike, play tag or even have a dance party. Be positive – the main focus here should be on feeling good and getting active together!

5. Give back.

As a family, take the time to be grateful for what you have and also give back to a cause in which you believe. Some charitable organizations to consider:

Brighton Center (brightoncenter.com/get_involved/donate),

Cincinnati Animal CARE (cincinnatianimalcare.org/donate/donate-now),

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital & Medical Center (cincinnatichildrens.org/giving),

Freestore Foodbank (freestorefoodbank.org/other-ways-to-give),

Matthew 25 Ministries (donatenow.networkforgood.org/matthew25ministries) and more!
