Cincinnati Observatory astronomer Dean Regas shares the universe in his new book, 100 Things to See in the Night Sky, a beginner’s guide to star-gazing.  Readers will learn how to observe the Sun safely, the phases of the moon, and how to spot planets with the naked eye as well as telescopes.  Then visit the famous stars and constellations you can see within city limits, and learn how to observe satellites, meteors and eclipses.

“I wanted to create a book for beginners who want to find out more about what’s up in the sky,” Regas said.  “Almost every object in this book is visible to the naked eye and this book provides a fun and easy way to discover the highlights of the heavens.”

Regas is also the co-host of the PBS program Star Gazers and his first book, Facts From Space!, came out last year.

100 Things to See in the Night Sky is for sale at the Cincinnati Observatory, as well as online.
