Things We Like: Smart Flour Ancient Grains Pizza

Smart Flour Ancient Grain pizza proves that healthy can be delicious, too. Kid approved!

Finding a meal that all of my kids agree on – let alone get excited about – is an arduous task. With a last name like Ciani, Italian cuisine is one of our household staples and if I am being honest, pizza enters our meal rotation fairly often because in my home, everyone loves pizza. In an attempt to balance things out, I try to serve healthy side dishes, but there is still a certain amount of mom-guilt when I have to pat the grease off the top of my kids’ slice of pizza. Ugh, mom-guilt – it’s the worst.

I have recently discovered a new go-to frozen pizza that has helped relieve me of pizza night mom-guilt – Smart Flour Ancient Grain pizza. It is not only delicious, but it is a healthier option for my family. Did I mention it is gluten-free and free from many common food allergens like wheat, soy, eggs, nuts and tree nuts?

Smart Flour pizza has great crust, sauce and cheese – all three of my boys gobble it up and always ask for seconds. The pizza has a thin and crispy crust that is made with ancient grains sorghum, amaranth and teff; these grains are tasty and also add a boost of fiber, protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. The Smart Flour pizza sauce is a traditional tomato sauce which all of my kids and I enjoy.  A part-skim mozzarella and provolone cheese blend tops off the pies with an ooey gooeyness that is a definite crowd pleaser. Each of my kids give Smart Flour Ancient Grain pizza two sauce and cheese covered thumbs up!

Digging into his second slice! Yum!!

Smart Flour offers Ancient Grain pizzas in five delicious varieties including uncured pepperoni, four cheese, margherita, two meat and chicken sausage. Drop the junk food guilt and pick up a yummy, healthier pizza for your family at a local Kroger, Whole Foods or Fresh Thyme grocery store; then be sure to visit smartflourfoods.com to learn more about these delicious pizzas and other tasty gluten-free options.
